Functional objectives:

• Role Focus: Technical responsibility for electronic (sub-)projects or serving as an electronic technical specialist.
• Responsibility: Electronics layout design of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) ownership on several energy storage product areas to ensure all requirements and development processes are satisfied, with minimal guidance.
• Expertise: Solid electronics expertise in automotive embedded electronics.
• Communication: Managing interfaces with other departments, presenting technical results.
• Special Remarks: Expanded technical leadership tasks being accountable for product cost and schedule.

Main Tasks:

• Create multilayer PCB layouts using ECAD tools and following design guidelines based on electrical schematics and mechanical constraints.
• Optimize component placement and routing to ensure signal / power integrity, thermal management and EMI mitigation.
• Ensure manufacturability and compliance with design and industry standards (IPC-2221)
• Coordinating with hardware engineers on proper placement and routing component placements.
• Maintaining configuration control over the design throughout all phases of the Program ED, DV, and PV.
• Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers for design integration.
• Participate in design reviews, interface with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing Engineers to design proto-type and production quality printed circuit boards in accordance with DFM and design best practices.
• Collaborate working with cross functional team members to ensure alignment on hardware interfaces.
• Prepare fabrication, assembly documentation and support DFM/DFA reviews.
• Interface with fabricators and assemblers to resolve issues during prototyping and production.
• Actively participate on assigned project teams and tasks with other engineering discipline.
• Participant in engineering development meetings and occasionally provides direction to assist others in development tasks.
• Generate component symbols, geometries and manage component libraries.
• Able to work independently, managing on-time tasks and responsibilities while performing some tasks with minimal guidance.

Education and professional knowledge:

Tasks require knowledge/skills

• BSEE BSET from accredited four-year college or university.
• 5-9 years of professional engineering experience in related field
• OE Automotive/Tier 1 embedded electronics experience
• Expert in the use of electronic schematic capture and PCB layout tools
• Expert in multi-layer PCB design & layout according to IPC-2221 standards
• Collaborative across multiple engineering disciplines
• Knowledge of PCB DFM guidelines
• Understanding of electronic circuit fundamentals
